Alex Avila is always going to be a boom-or-bust option, but when he's priced only $100 above the minimum, you can often afford the risk that he flops in exchange for the huge upside he can offer.

His production this season has been terrible, but he also boasts a massive 50.0% hard-hit rate and 35.3% fly-ball rate against right-handed pitching with only an 8.8% soft-hit rate. Extending our view to the start of the 2017 season (421 plate appearances), his batted-ball profile gets even better, with a 53.5% hard-hit rate, 35.6% fly-ball rate and 5.9% soft-hit rate versus righties.

Pittsburgh Pirates righty Trevor Williams has a brutal 5.77 xFIP against left-handed bats in 2018, and while Avila is no lock for fantasy production (or to be in the lineup), Williams does nothing to stifle his upside, either.
