Yoan Moncada, 2B, Chicago White Sox

FanDuel Price: $3,500

This Friday night, Yoan Moncada will not only face the team that traded him, the Boston Red Sox, but he will also square off against the pitcher he was traded for in Chris Sale. While it may seem obvious to recommend fading a hitter facing Sale, some may be tempted to given Moncada's 42.1% hard-hit rate and status as a switch-hitter.

Left-handed hitters stand no chance against Sale, but right-handed batters at least have a fighting shot. However, while Moncada is a switch-hitter, his handedness splits -- at least early in his career -- are more representative of a platoon left-handed hitter.

In his career, Moncada has a 60 wRC+ against southpaws compared to a 120 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers. The strikeout rate against both is nearly exactly the same, so what is causing this difference? Well, against right-handed pitchers Moncada has posted a 42.0% hard-hit rate and 35.6% fly-ball rate. But against left-handed pitchers, Moncada has delivered an identical 31.2% hard-hit rate and fly-ball rate.

Coupled with his high strikeout rate and the fact that the left-hander he is facing happens to be Chris Sale, rostering Moncada is, at best, a risky proposition.
