There's not a ton of top-end pitching on today's slate, and the strong arms we do have in action mostly draw poor matchups. Kenta Maeda is one of the few who checks both boxes, and that makes him a fairly easy pick as the pitcher worth paying up for on Tuesday.

Maeda's 3.12 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) is the third-best among today's starting pitchers, while his 30.6% strikeout rate ranks second and his 14.2% swinging-strike rate ranks fourth.

The Philadelphia Phillies rank only 20th in wRC+ (94) against right-handed pitching, while their 26.4% strikeout rate is the second-highest in the Majors. This matchup leaves the Phillies with the slate's second-lowest implied total (3.36 runs). With both a safe floor and plenty of strikeout upside, Maeda is a terrific option in all formats.
