Adrian Gonzalez, 1B, New York Mets

The New York Mets have been a bit up-and down this season thanks to an offense that ranks 24th in team wOBA (.303). After losing eight out of nine recently and dropping their last two to the Miami Marlins, the Mets will open up a series against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Adrian Gonzalez has been solid against righties this season, but the righty he's facing today -- Zach Davies -- is pretty tough on left-handed sticks. Against lefties, Davies is holding them to a .323 wOBA while generating a healthy 49.9% ground-ball rate.

In 2018, Gonzalez does have a .346 wOBA and 41.9% hard-hit rate versus righties. But if we go back to the start of 2017, his numbers in the split look a whole lot worse as he owns a weak .312 wOBA and .149 ISO. Time will tell if Gonzalez's 2018 turnaround is legit, but facing a tough matchup versus Davies, tonight probably isn't the time to buy in.
