In his age-37 season, an aging pitcher like CC Sabathia could seem like an easy target for DFS purposes. In 2017, he posted a 4.45 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) with a 19.3% strikeout rate. These aren't the worst marks in the world, but they're not exactly awe-inspiring, either.

However, Sabathia has been exceptionally tough on left-handed bats in the last two seasons. During that timeframe, the southpaw has faced 129 lefties and allowed an impressive .296 weighted on-base average (wOBA), improved 21.7% strikeout rate, and 14.9% hard-hit rate.

Andrew Benintendi has also struggled in this split. Since the start of the 2017 season, the Boston Red Sox's outfielder has posted a mere .211 batting average, .272 wOBA, and 20.2% hard-hit rate over 166 plate appearances in lefty-lefty matchups.

If the Sox get to Sabathia, it appears unlikely to come from left-handed bats like Benintendi.
