Tanner Roark, SP, Washington Nationals

FanDuel Price: $8,000

One of the cheaper pitching options that you may consider using in lineups without Gerrit Cole is Tanner Roark. Roark has been a solid pitcher throughout his career and has maintained his previous level of success in 2018, pitching to a tune of a 3.67 SIERA.

However, his matchup against the New York Mets is a tough one for opposing right-handed pitchers.

The Mets are 4th in team wOBA and wRC+ against right-handed pitching. A large part of this is due to their extraordinary plate discipline -- the Mets rank 3rd in team walk to strikeout ratio. In fact, they lead the majors in walk rate against right-handers. Allowing free base-runners with a high number of walks can be a death sentence for pitchers. Even if those runners don't come around to score, walks spike pitch counts and shorten outings.

If you want to diversify your lineup by looking for a cheap pitching option, avoid Roark.
