3 Under-the-Radar MLB FanDuel Plays for 3/30/18

Walks have always plagued former top prospect Blake Snell, but he showed improvement towards the end of last season, and put forth an impressive spring with 27 strikeouts to just 5 walks over 17 1/3 innings. It's a sign that Snell might be ready to turn the corner, making him a risky player to attack in DFS tonight.

However, we don't know yet whether Snell's recent progress will translate into the regular season, and he'll have a tough time dealing with right-hander J.D. Martinez, who owns monster numbers against southpaws. Since 2015, Martinez has a 49.6% hard-hit rate and 41.9% fly-ball rate, leading to a ridiculous .317 isolated power (ISO) against left-handed hurlers. A 25.8% strikeout rate is less enticing, but he balances that out with a 12.1% walk rate, which could prove troublesome for Snell if the walks return.

With Giancarlo Stanton coming off a two-homer game, and both Mike Trout and Kris Bryant facing lefties, there's a chance Martinez gets overlooked among the high-potential, high price stars. The Boston Red Sox are also playing in pitcher-friendly Tropicana Field and have a modest 3.98 implied team total, which should further divert attention away from Martinez.
