Brent Honeywell, Tampa Bay Rays (SP)

Last year, the rookie starting pitcher with the highest fWAR in either league was the New York Yankees' Jordan Montgomery (2.7 fWAR in 29 starts). This year, Tampa Bay Rays hurler Brent Honeywell could be that guy.

Unlike some other young hurlers, Honeywell doesn't have a blazing fastball. Instead, he's bringing sexy back with the screwball, a pitch that dances around the plate and has flummoxed minor league batters during his career.

He went 12-8 in 24 AAA starts with a 3.64 ERA and a fielding independent pitching (FIP) of 2.84 last year, and showed solid control of the strike zone by whiffing 29.1% of batters he faced and walking just 5.9%.
