Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Man alive, there are some studs taking the pill tonight. Chris Sale and Carlos Carrasco lock horns, Carlos Martinez and Jimmy Nelson are ready to face off, and Chris Archer also mans the bump. Those five should be very highly owned.
Despite a surge in the standings, the Kansas City Royals still have some doubters, and Ian Kennedy is a low-priced option in a great spot.
Why You Should Use Him:
When the calendar turned to July, Kennedy went into absolute beast mode, and he will look to keep it rolling tonight against the white-hot Baltimore Orioles offense.
Last month, Kennedy posted his best strikeout rate of the season at 23.7%, and he combined that with his second-best hard-hit rate (37.0%) and lowest monthly fly-ball rate (40.7%).
The Orioles also are happy to oblige Kennedy's strikeout tendencies -- they whiff 10th-most in the league at 22.6%.
