4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 7/26/17
Mike Trout, OF, Los Angeles Angels
FanDuel Price: $4,600
Mike Trout is the best baseball player on the planet, so a bad matchup for him merely bumps him down to the range of mere mortals. With that said, Carlos Carrasco is one nasty dude, and he's put in work this season against right-handed hitters.
Splits | Strikeout Rate | Walk Rate | wOBA | Hard-Hit Rate | Fly-Ball Rate |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Vs. Right-Handed Hitters | 30.0% | 4.6% | .269 | 27.0% | 30.1% |
Vs. Left-Handed Hitters | 25.1% | 9.4% | .334 | 36.4% | 40.0% |
Carrasco is one of the game's best pitchers -- he's put up a single-game swinging-strike rate in the double digits in 16 straight starts -- but he takes things to another level against same-sided hitters.
Because Trout is Trout, he owns a 44.2% hard-hit rate and 43.3% fly-ball rate against righties. But he does strike out 20.8% of the time versus right-handers, and he's currently having his worst month of the year, sporting a .403 wOBA in July (yeah, that's bad for him).
Vegas expects Carrasco to cruise, giving the Los Angeles Angels a 3.71 implied total, the second-lowest of the slate.
Again, Mike Trout is unreal and could hit four bombs tonight, but Carrasco's impeccable dominance against right-handed hitters makes Trout's $4,600 price tag tough to swallow.
