The Washington Nationals may have a sweet 4.99 implied team total, but Michael Taylor remains pricey in a matchup where he lacks the platoon advantage.

Mike Foltynewicz is susceptible to southpaws, but against same-side hitters, going back to last season he has a 21.4% strikeout rate and 25.5% hard-hit rate. And for all his recent success, Taylor still strikes out an alarming 31.4% of the time.

Perhaps most concerning, though, is that despite a solid .351 wOBA this season, Statcast's expected weighted on-base average (xwOBA) -- which is a better approximation of a player's skill than wOBA -- gives Taylor a much less exciting .299.

In all, given everything working against him, it's tough to rationalize paying for Taylor at this price point.
