Travis Shaw is enjoying his tenure as the Mayor of Ding Dong City in a new locale, with nine ding dongs to show for his efforts so far. He's in the midst of an 11-game hit streak, and thus the price to visit the Mayor is steadily rising.
But Shaw is curiously hitting a whole lot of ground balls for a guy nicknamed for homers (49.6% rate), and his 26.5% home-run-to-fly-ball rate (HR/FB) is a giant leap from his 14.4% career rate. It's tough to say how sustainable his homer pace is, and he's now priced around guys like Nolan Arenado, Kris Bryant, Manny Machado, Miguel Sano, and Jake Lamb.
Opposing pitcher Joe Biagini had a rough go of it in his third major league start, giving up five runs in just four innings. However, I'm not ready to throw in the towel on a guy who, including his relief appearances, has a 3.06 SIERA, 56.8% ground-ball rate and 25.8% hard-hit rate. He still looks like a guy who can be a serviceable major league starter.
Between Shaw's price, potential power regression, and arguably neutral matchup, it might be better to visit the Mayor on another night.
