As mentioned above, this -- Clemente's 12th season -- was the Hall of Famer's lone MVP season as he took the NL's award by 10 points over second-place finisher Sandy Koufax. He was like a new hitter, bombing 29 homers for 119 RBI and a WRC+ 143.

Meanwhile, Clemente still maintained a .317 average and .360 on-base percentage. At .385, his wOBA was even more indicative of his success given his new-found home run and RBI totals.

He continued his solid defensive play, contributing 8.5 defensive runs above average from the outfield. As usual, Clemente appeared in the All-Star game and won a Gold Glove en route to compiling a 7.1 WAR.
