Francisco Liriano, P, Toronto Blue Jays

$8,000 for a pitcher may be playing a little fast and loose with the definition of "stud," but as the highest-priced pitcher on Friday's main slate, Francisco Liriano fits the bill.

Liriano's strikeout numbers aren't especially intimidating, with a 23.0% strikeout rate in 2016 and a 26.5% in 2015, but today's matchup should really help with that. The Tampa Bay Rays struck out at league's highest rate against left-handed pitchers last season -- and we project Liriano for the second-most strikeouts among pitchers on the slate.

The Toronto Blue Jays are only -122 favorites, which doesn't exactly inspire a ton of confidence, but the Rays' implied total sits at 3.85, which is a pretty low mark on this offensively-loaded slate. When there are no true safe options at pitcher, going after Liriano's upside is worth the price tag.
