Daily Fantasy Golf Weather Report for the Puerto Rico Open
Usually, the impact of weather on sports is minimal, but when it comes to an outdoor sport like golf, wind, rain, heat, humidity, barometric pressure, and more can all affect player performance.
The Puerto Rico Open at Coco Beach has been known to be impacted heavily by wind and rain. Is there anything on the radar to worry about for this iteration?
Let's break it down.
The Forecast
According to Dark Sky, significant rain and moderate winds are projected for the duration of the event, with temperatures ranging from 75 to 90 degrees during playing hours.
Thursday
With tee times beginning at 7:00 a.m., we can probably expect things to get underway without rain falling, but precipitation odds cross above 50% by 1:00 p.m.
Plenty of noteworthy golfers start their rounds at noon or later and will likely face tough conditions for their opening round.

Winds to the northwest are projected to be above 10 miles per hour all day. Morning golfers will be playing in temperatures around 80 degrees, but the high of the day is projected at 85.
Friday
Precipitation isn't likely before noon, but afternoon golfers should get wet again. At the final tee time (1:20 p.m.), precipitation chances are around 33%. Around 2:00 p.m., chances are above 50%. The bigger issue is thunderstorms, which should affect the field Friday and Saturday.
That could impact a lot of the field, especially these targetable options.

Winds to the west should remain below eight miles per hour on the day. Temperatures will be similar to those on Thursday, sitting between 80 and 85.
Saturday
Saturday temperatures hover within a few degrees of 80 during playing hours, and winds to the west around 10 miles per hour are expected.
However, rain odds climb significantly throughout the day. They're practically zero in the morning but again move above 50% by 2:00 p.m. It's probably safe to assume the round won't finish until Sunday. Of course, heavy rain is anticipated at night and will certainly slow greens for the final rounds.
Sunday
Winds and temperatures are to be the same as the prior days, but the morning is projected to be free of precipitation. Steady rain is expected to begin at 3:00 p.m. and last until the night. If delays happen Saturday, this tournament might finish up Monday morning.
The Implications
Scores probably won't be low in this event, and that means fewer fantasy points to go around.
We've certainly seen weather affect this event in the past. In 2015, Alex Cejka won at just -7. In prior years, scores ranged around -20 for the winner. Expect the scores to run closer to par than to -20 this week.
Of course, no player will be able to escape the elements entirely, so you'll still want to factor in current form and relevant stats when researching for lineups this week.
However, tough conditions means possibly favoring players who have played well here in the past and are used to the conditions, such as Graham DeLaet, Scott Brown, Cejka, Boo Weekley, and Chesson Hadley.
