3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 1/31/18

Despite a solid showing Tuesday night, it's better to keep Tim Hardaway Jr. off your NBA DFS rosters. Which other players should you avoid Wednesday night?

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it takes only one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference between winning and losing your contests. Which players should we avoid tonight?

Tim Hardaway Jr., SG, New York Knicks

FanDuel Price: $6,300

Tim Hardaway Jr. played 25 minutes last night for the New York Knicks, scoring 15 points on 6-for-13 shooting. However, he has yet to play in a back-to-back since returning from injury, and there is a chance he sits out on Wednesday.

Even if he does play, Hardaway has a very tough matchup against the Boston Celtics, who are holding shooting guards to 0.74 FanDuel points per minute. In his lone meeting against the C's earlier this year, Hardaway scored just 10.1 FanDuel points.

Dewayne Dedmon, C, Atlanta Hawks

FanDuel Price: $4,900

Dewayne Dedmon has been playing well coming off the Atlanta Hawks' bench, but with his minutes still hovering around or in the low-20s most games, it's hard to roster him against the Charlotte Hornets tonight.

A lot has been made about the resurgence of Dwight Howard on offense, but his defense has been equally impressive. He's holding players he defends to 45.3% shooting overall and 52.8% shooting inside of 10 feet. With the Hornets limiting centers to the seventh-fewest fantasy points per minute according to our DvP Chart, it's hard to recommend rostering Dedmon at his price tag.

Bojan Bogdanovic, SF, Indiana Pacers

FanDuel Price: $4,300

Bojan Bogdanovic has been a nice source of three-point shooting for the Indiana Pacers, but the problem for DFS players is that he doesn't do much else outside of scoring points.

Plus, Bogdanovic has a tough matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday, who are holding opposing small forwards to just 0.76 FanDuel points per minute. He did have 16 points against Memphis in his first game against them, but with the swingman struggling at 41.6% shooting in the month of January, it's a risk you don't have to take.
