Rafael Devers, 3B, Boston Red Sox

How often can you get a player who is:

- Projected for 22 homers and 7 steals
- Playing for an elite offense
- Entering his age-22 season
- And going outside the top 150 picks in ESPN re-draft leagues?

I'm going to go ahead and guess it's not very often. But Rafael Devers checks all those boxes.

It's not hard to understand why Devers is going so low in re-draft leagues. He hit the injured list three separate times last year, and he didn't play all that well when healthy. But for a guy who generated so much optimism during his 2017 debut, it's still a bit surprising to see where Devers is going.

There's plenty of positive buzz around Devers as we get set to kick off 2019. He slimmed down in the offseason in an effort to avoid in-season wear and tear, and he hit third on Thursday in a lineup loaded with the regulars. Sitting between Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez is about as ideal as a player's situation can get, and that's where Devers could find himself on opening day.

Devers is a former top-20 prospect who is coming off a down year that was at least partially induced by injuries. You won't get him for as cheap as his re-draft cost, but he'll at least be cheaper than he was entering last year, presenting us with an ideal buying window.
