Will anyone draft Matt Cassel?
Cassel looked good the other night. I also heard a rumor Hasselbeck may soon be traded to KC. Hm.

The only way I take Matt Cassel is as a backup QB is if he's playing a cupcake team when my starting QB is on his bye week. As soon as a I draft my starting QB I generally start looking at possible late round backups, if I draft one, that plays cupcakes in his bye week and weeks he has a tough matchup.

I might consider it in a deep league as a back-up only.. I haven't seen any of their pre-season games though. I know he can do well when he isn't forced to rush his pass. the only players I would consider are CJ, bowe and maybe even Hillis

Personally, I have not seen anything I like with him. If it's a 1 quarterback league, I would prefer to get a more prominent main quarterback and throw my hat in the ring for a rookie with upside depending on how the season goes. Remember the two deepest positions this year in order are WR and QB. Drafting Cassel is not something I would do.

As a Kansas City Chiefs fan, I cannot advocate you drafting Matt Cassel as a starting QB. Cassel is probably better than he sometimes is made out to be, but the Chiefs offense is just so heavily run oriented that there is little upside for him. A stat line of about 3,000 yards 25 touchdowns and 12 interceptions is about what you can expect to get out of Cassel. You won't ever feel great starting him but you could find worse for using as a bye week filler.

I like him as a spot-starter / bye week choice. He does good work in those situations.

Yup, I agree. With a favorable matchup he can be a servicable backup.

Unless you are in a deep league, I seriously doubt anyone would draft Cassell. He's an injury risk & when he is in the game, he's just not that effective. Maybe if you wait for your QB2, you get stuck taking him but other than that, I'd stay away from him
