Vladimir Tarasenko gives Blues 6-5 overtime victory over Blackhawks

St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko scored at 3:54 of overtime to give the St. Louis Blues a 6-5 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night.

What It Means:

Tarasenko's goal was his seventh of the season. He also picked up his fifth assist of the season on one of Alexander Steen's two goals. Steen also has seven goals on the season. The Blues trailed Chicago by scores of 1-0, 3-1 and 5-2 in the first period alone. In the second period, however, goals by Steen, Jay Bouwmeester (first) and David Backes tied the game at 5-5. Robby Fabbri scored his second goal of the season in the first period. There were no goals by either team in the third period, setting up Tarasenko's dramatic game-winner in OT.

Tarasenko had a superb season a year ago, totaling 37 goals and 36 assists, both of which were career-best marks. Through 12 games this season, he's notched 7 goals and 5 helpers. We see him coming close to the point-per-game pace the rest of the way, projecting him for 32 goals and 34 assists over the final 70 contests.
