Blackhawks' Artemi Panarin named the NHL's top rookie
Chicago Blackhawks forward Artemi Panarin won the Calder Trophy, which is given to the NHL's top rookie.
Panarin edged out Shayne Gostisbehere and Connor McDavid for the honor. Panarin, 24, was a star in Russia's KHL before coming stateside. He handpicked the Blackhawks and teamed up with Patrick Kane and Artem Anisimov to form a potent line for Chicago.
With a cap hit of just $812,000, Panarin gave the 'Hawks great production at an incredible bargain. He had 30 goals and 77 points in 80 games. He put up a 53.0 Corsi For Percentage and 3.0 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength.
