Matt Murray OUT

Matt Murray keeps rolling for Penguins, kicks aside 23 of 24 shots

Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Matt Murray turned in another first-rate game Monday night, stopping 23 of the 24 shots he faced en route to the Penguins' 3-1 triumph over the San Jose Sharks in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

What It Means:

Murray improved his postseason record to 14-5 in 19 starts. He has allowed two or fewer goals in five of his past six games. He also has won four of his past five games. His goals against average is 2.09, and his save percentage is .925.

Murray has emerged as the story of the postseason in the NHL. He was pressed into action initially because regular Pittsburgh goalie Marc-Andre Fleury was injured. It's the Wally Pip story all over again, and there's no reason to believe Murray won't begin next season as the Penguins' first-string netminder.
