Cory Schneider has core muscle surgery for Devils

New Jersey Devils goalie Cory Schneider had a successful operation to repair a core muscle injury.

What It Means:

Schneider is expected to need six weeks to recover, so this shouldn't have an impact on his 2016-'17 campaign. He had a 2.15 goals against average and .924 save percentage -- both of which ranked fourth among all goalies -- in 58 starts this season.

Believe it or not, Schneider's save percentage was actually below his career average of .927, although his goals against average was an improvement on his career clip of 2.20.
