Capitals' get 38 saves from Braden Holtby in season-ending defeat

Washington Capitals netminder Braden Holtby stopped 38 of 42 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 elimination loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

What It Means:

The Capitals found themselves down 3-0 in the second period, but they managed to fight back and force overtime. The Penguins carried the play for the majority of overtime before Nick Bonino beat Holtby off a rebound in the extra frame.

Holtby will likely come away with the Vezina Trophy (top goalie), but he couldn't prevent the Capitals from being eliminated early. Holtby finishes the playoffs with a 6-6 record despite a sparkling 1.72 goals against average and .942 save percentage.
