Troy Brouwer

Troy Brouwer's third-period goal the difference in St. Louis victory

St. Louis Blues winger Troy Brouwer netted his first goal of the post-season at 8:31 of the third period Monday night to lift the St. Louis Blues to a 3-2 triumph and a series victory over the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks.

What It Means:

The Blues will meet the Dallas Stars in the second round. Brouwer, who was part of the Cup-winning team with Chicago in 2010, redirected Robby Fabbri's pass and the puck hit the post. He missed on a second try before backhanding a shot past Chicago goalie Corey Crawford, giving the Blues their first Game 7 victory since defeating the Arizona Coyotes in the first round of the 1999 Stanley Cup playoffs. Brouwer ended a playoff drought of 24 goal-less games, dating back to May 8, 2013, when he was with the Washington Capitals.

Brower played all 82 games for the third straight season, tallying 18 goals and 21 assists. He owned a 48.7 Corsi For Percentage and a career-low -5.4 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength.
