NHL offers Blackhawks' Duncan Keith in-person hearing

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith has been offered an in-person hearing for an incident involving Charlie Coyle during Tuesday's game.

What It Means:

Keith received an intent to injury penalty for swinging his stick at Coyle in retaliation for a hit that Coyle delivered just prior. The fact that it's an in-person hearing is big because that opens the door to the NHL suspending him for six or more games. Chicago has just five games left in its regular season schedule, so Keith might not be available for the start of the playoffs.

Keith has 43 points (9 goals, 34 assists) in 67 games played this season and has been solid at driving possession. His Corsi For Percentage is 52.9 and his Relative Corsi at Even Strength is 2.3, but perhaps more importantly, his average time on ice of 25:14 is easily the most on Chicago's roster. We currently give the Blackhawks a 6.12 percent chance of winning it all this season.
