Senators' Andrew Hammond suffers tough-luck loss in shootout

Ottawa Senators goalie Andrew Hammond replaced Craig Anderson in the second period of a 4-3 shootout loss to the St. Louis Blues.

What It Means:

Hammond replaced Anderson after the latter suffered a lower-body injury. Hammond picked up the shootout loss but was perfect in regulation and through overtime, stopping all 17 shots he faced. He also turned aside a remarkable 10 of 11 shootout attempts but was eventually beaten by Patrik Berglund in the 11th round.

Hammond's record is 3-6-3 to go along with a 2.98 goals against average and .903 save percentage. He could be in line for an increase in playing time if Anderson is sidelined.
