NHL to make decision today on Calgary's Dennis Wideman

The NHL is expected to come to a decision on Thursday regarding the hit by Calgary Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman on linesman Don Henderson.

What It Means:

Wideman might be subject to an automatic 20-game suspension if the league feels his actions were deliberate. For his part, the Flames defenseman argues that's not the case, but he appeared to show no remorse after bumping into the official. The incident put Henderson in the hospital for precautionary reasons.

In 48 games, Wideman has recorded two goals and 17 assists. Our rest-of-season projections have Wideman scoring three more goals with 12 more assists, assuming he is not suspended. His -4.3 Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength is the worst mark of his career while his 46.3 Corsi For Percentage is the second-worst clip of his career.
