Canucks' Henrik Sedin likely out until after All-Star break

Vancouver Canucks center Henrik Sedin (undisclosed) likely won't play until after the All-Star break, according to coach Willie Desjardins.

What It Means:

This makes February 4 as the earliest date Sedin could return. Desjardins went onto say that Sedin will probably be sent home, meaning he'll miss the rest of the Canucks' road trip. He suffered an upper-body injury (likely to his chest or shoulder) on Sunday after New York Islanders forward Mikhail Grabovski hit him into the boards.

The Canucks will miss Sedin's production -- he has 37 points (9 goals, 28 assists) in 44 games this season -- and leads his team in assists and is second in points. Despite posting possession numbers that are below his career averages, he is still helping to drive possession when on the ice. His Corsi For Percentage is 51.2 (55.4 percent for his career) and his Relative Corsi For Percentage at Even Strength is 4.6 (6.6 for his career).
