Mike Smith to miss at least eight week for Coyotes after surgery

Arizona Coyotes goalie Mike Smith underwent successful surgery Tuesday for a core muscle injury.

What It Means:

He is projected to be sidelined for eight-to-10 weeks. If the Coyotes don't acquire another goalie, then Anders Lindback is expected to handle the number one job in Smith's absence with Louis Domingue as the understudy.

Smith has struggled this season. He owns a 3.06 goals-against average and .901 save percentage, both of which rank just inside the top 40 for goalies.
