Giants' Olivier Vernon (ankle) sidelined again Week 2
New York Giants defensive lineman Olivier Vernon (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Vernon will miss both games to start the year due to a high-ankle sprain. His absence is welcome news for Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense. Giants head coach Pat Shurmur said there's hope that Vernon will be able to make his season debut in Week 3 versus the Houston Texans.
Prior to this news, numberFire's models projected Vernon for 43.9 tackles, 8.6 sacks, 2.0 forced fumbles, and 1.1 fumble recoveries over 15 games in 2018.
