Jets reportedly sending Teddy Bridgewater to New Orleans
The New York Jets are trading quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and a 2019 sixth-round draft pick to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for a 2019 third-round pick, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The deal is expected to involve draft picks, according to Schefter, and it likely means 3rd overall pick Sam Darnold will be under center for the Jets in Week 1. Bridgewater provides the Saints with a quality backup in case Drew Brees gets injured this season, as well as a potential solution for the post-Brees era.
When Bridgewater last played a full season in 2015, he completed 65.3 percent of his passes for 3,231 passing yards with 14 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. He added 192 rushing yards and 3 scores on the ground.
