Chiefs' Sammy Watkins and Patrick Mahomes syncing up
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins and quarterback Patrick Mahomes are "starting to sync," offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy said.
"He’s accepted the challenge because we’re not just playing him at one position," Bieniemy said. Watkins hasn't caught a pass in two preseason games and has been out-targeted by Tyreek Hill 6 to 3. The Chiefs are also playing Watkins in the slot at a rate of 41 percent of his snaps thus far, which would be a career-high rate if that carries over into the regular season.
Our models project Watkins for 970 receiving yards and 6.5 touchdowns on 68 receptions in 2018. That would be good enough for the 24th-most fantasy points among receivers.
