Trey Burton

Bears' Trey Burton could push for 1,000 yards

Chicago Bears tight end Trey Burton "certainly could challenge" Martellus Bennett's franchise record for receiving yards in a season by a tight end, believes Brad Briggs of the Chicago Tribune.

What It Means:

Bennett set the record with 916 yards in 2014. Rob Gronkowski and Travis Kelce were the only two tight ends to top 850 receiving yards last season, so that sort of production from Burton would immediately vault him into top-five fantasy status at his position. The 26-year-old caught 4 passes on 5 targets for 45 yards and 1 touchdown in just over a quarter of action in Saturday's preseason game against the Denver Broncos.

Burton is the 11th tight end in numberFire's preseason fantasy rankings. Our models project him for 51.9 catches (77.4 targets), 599.3 yards, and 4.94 touchdowns during his first season with the Bears.
