Saints' Jonathan Williams the 'lead candidate' for Mark Ingram's role during ban
New Orleans Saints running back Jonathan Williams is the "leading candidate" to take on Mark Ingram's role during Ingram's four-game suspension, writes ESPN Saints reporter Mike Triplett.
This comes after the Saints released Terrance West on Tuesday. Assuming Williams can fend off sixth-round pick Boston Scott, he will step in as a complement to Alvin Kamara for the first four weeks of the season. Williams was a fifth-round draft choice by the Buffalo Bills in 2016.
numberFire's models expect Williams to average just 11.1 rushing yards and 10.0 receiving yards on 4.3 offensive touches per game during Ingram's four-game suspension.
