Bears and first-rounder Roquan Smith agree to terms on four-year deal
The Chicago Bears agreed to terms with first-round rookie linebacker Roquan Smith on a four-year deal, per Adma Schefter of ESPN.
Smith was the last first-round pick in the 2018 draft to sign their rookie deal as the two sides negotiated the wording regarding revoking guaranteed money. With an agreement finally met, the eighth-overall pick will report to training camp immediately and will have a good shot and playing in Saturday's preseason game against the Denver Broncos. An excellent coverage linebacker, Smith is projected to start immediately for an underrated Bears' defense in 2018.
The Bears were our 8th-ranked overall defensive unit in 2017 and finished 10th or better in points (20.0) and yards (319.1) allowed per game last season.
