Chiefs moving Sammy Watkins around formation in minicamp

The Kansas City Chiefs have been moving wide receiver Sammy Watkins "all over the place" on offense, head coach Andy Reid said.

What It Means:

Earlier in his career, Watkins worked as a classic "X" receiver -- often against the other team's best corner or bracketed by double coverage. Reid is apparently not satisfied with that, even moving Watkins into the slot to free him up. Watkins feels like he's being productively challenged too, "because anybody can get the ball and I've got to learn all the positions."

Our models project Watkins to bring in 55 receptions for 788 receiving yards and 5.3 touchdowns this year -- a projection that would put him 37th in fantasy scoring at his position in 2018.
