Broncos' third-rounder Royce Freeman 'absolutely' can earn lead role
Denver Broncos third-round running back Royce Freeman "absolutely" can win the lead job, head coach Vance Joseph said.
Freeman's competition is 2016 fourth-round pick Devontae Booker and 2017 sixth-rounder De'Angelo Henderson. The Broncos may very well elect to use a committee but it sounds like Freeman is making a positive impression on the coaching staff. This will be one of the more consequential position battles to watch for fantasy purposes between now and Week 1.
numberFire's models believe Freeman will lead the Broncos' backfield this season, with 125.5 carries for 538.6 rushing yards and 2.68 touchdowns, as well as 35.1 catches for 278.1 yards and 1.06 receiving scores. He's the RB35 in our preseason rankings. Booker is nF's RB48.
