Seahawks release cornerback Jeremy Lane

The Seattle Seahawks have released cornerback Jeremy Lane, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

What It Means:

In addition to cutting long-time shutdown corner Richard Sherman, the Seahawks are parting ways with Lane, who has played all six of his seasons in Seattle. He started six of 13 games a year ago, but releasing him saves Seattle $4.75 million as they continue to cut costs in an attempt to get younger on the defensive side of the ball. They now have just four corners under contract, with Shaquill Griffin getting the most run of them this past season.

Over 13 games and 6 starts, Lane produced 18 tackles without a single interception in the 2017 season.
