Patriots sign Dion Lewis to two-year extension
The New England Patriots have signed running back Dion Lewis to a two-year, $4.4 million extension through 2017.
This should further solidify the notion that Lewis is a firm asset in the Patriots' offense. Through three games in 2015, Lewis already has 45 touches (30 rushes, 15 receptions plus 4 additional targets)..
This is a good move by the Patriots, as Lewis has combined his volume with efficiency. He is currently third in the league in Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play among the 54 running backs with at least 20 carries. He has also turned his 19 targets into 7.82 Reception NEP. His 14.71 Total NEP are the second most in the league among running backs with at least 20 carries.
