Seattle's Pete Carroll hints Marshawn Lynch will be game-time call

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch's (hamstring, calf) status will not be known until the "end of the week," head coach Pete Carroll said.

What It Means:

"We’re going day-to-day on this thing," Carroll said. "He did make a lot of progress last week and was able to run around some and all that. He’s worked really hard at it so we’ll see if we can get it done." Lynch did not practice on Wednesday and is likely to be a game-time decision. If Lynch is unable to go, Thomas Rawls would be nearly an every-down back.

On a per-play basis, Rawls ranks 37th in Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) among running backs with at least 20 opportunities. He's not the most exceptional back in the league, but he's about as good a backup as a team can hope for. The Bengals rank seventh in the NFL in schedule-adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP as a team, so he will be in for a tough test if called on.
