Bears lose center Will Montgomery to broken leg
Chicago Bears center Will Montgomery is out for the season after suffering a broken fibula in the team's Week 4 victory over the Oakland Raiders, according to Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.
With Montgomery out, the team used left guard Matt Slauson at center on Sunday. They could continue to do so, look at rookie third-round pick Hroniss Grasu, or sign a free agent.
This is Montgomery's first season in Chicago. He started all 48 games with Washington from 2011 to 2013 before starting eight last year with the Denver Broncos. The Bears' offense is currently 21st in Adjusted Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play and 30th in Adjusted Passing NEP per play, so they can hardly afford more injuries on the offensive side of the ball.
