Patriots' Malcolm Mitchell (knee) unlikely to play this season
New England Patriots wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell is considered unlikely to return to the field this season, reports Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.
Howe is reporting that the Patriots have been operating off this assumption "for weeks." And that might help to explain why they added former Cleveland Browns wideout Kenny Britt earlier today. With Britt, Danny Amendola and Phillip Dorsett, the Patriots won't have a problem filling the gap left by Mitchell. Mitchell didn't play in 2017 after being placed on injured reserve with reoccurring knee issues.
A fourth-round pick in 2016, Mitchell turned 48 targets into 32 catches, 401 yards and 4 scores a year ago.
