Lions won't commit to Ameer Abdullah as starting running back
Lions coach Jim Caldwell declined to name Ameer Abdullah his starting running back following Sunday's victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Coming off a neck injury, Abdullah was inactive on Sunday despite being deemed healthy enough to play. Although Caldwell indicated that Abdullah is still dealing with an injury, it doesn't sound like the Lions have big plans for Abdullah in the short term. Even if Abdullah is active in Week 15 against the Chicago Bears, he may find himself fighting for touches with Theo Riddick, Tion Green, and Zach Zenner.
Through 11 games this year Abdullah has averaged 45.9 rushing yards to go along with 4 total touchdowns.
