Seahawks confirm Richard Sherman tore Achilles' on Thursday night

Seattle Seahawks defensive back Richard Sherman has been diagnosed with a ruptured right Achilles' tendon, and is done for the season.

What It Means:

The Seahawks initially said Sherman was dealing with a "heel injury," but he seemed to know immediately what the real diagnosis was. After Thursday's game, Sherman said he had been playing through the injury for the majority of the season. It's obviously a significant blow for Seattle's secondary moving forward. Sherman will be 30 by the start of next season, which is the final year of his contract. The three-time All-Pro has never missed a game in his seven-year career.

Sherman recorded 35 tackles (30 solo) with 7 pass deflections, 2 interceptions, and 1 recovered fumble in nine games this season. The Seahawks entered Week 10 ranked 2nd in the NFL in Adjusted Passing Net Expected Points allowed per play.
