Giants release wide receiver Preston Parker

The New York Giants have released wide receiver Preston Parker, according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports.

What It Means:

This move is to make room for defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis. Head coach Tom Coughlin said that Parker's release did not mean anything about the availability of wide receiver Victor Cruz, who has missed the first two games with a calf injury.

It was an adventurous two weeks with Parker. He was targeted 12 times and finished with a Target Net Expected Points (NEP) of -5.90, meaning the team lost an average of 0.49 expected points each time he was targeted. His 12 targets were the third most on the team behind Odell Beckham Jr. and Shane Vereen, leaving room for another player to acquire more volume.
