Lions indicate Matthew Stafford could miss time
Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell said, "We'll see," when asked if quarterback Matthew Stafford will play Week 3 against the Denver Broncos.
Stafford received X-rays on both his chest and ribs following the team's Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Dan Orlovsky is the backup on the team's roster.
Stafford has not had a great first two weeks in the analytics department. He finished Sunday with 1.89 Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) on 53 attempts. In Week 1, Stafford was 23rd in the league with 1.33 Passing NEP over 31 dropbacks against the San Diego Chargers. Things won't get any easier next week, either, as the Lions will face the Denver Broncos, who finished 2014 seventh in our schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play.
