Giants' Victor Cruz on calf: "It's doing a lot better"

New York Giants' wide receiver Victor Cruz spoke with reporters, and said his calf strain is "doing much better".

What It Means:

He also commented that he's been running in pool and a weightless treadmill, "so hopefully my return to the field will be expedited." We're not expecting it anytime soon, as there's still no public timeline for Cruz's return. He suffered a tear of ligaments in his knee last season, then suffered a strain of the same leg's calf muscle in training camp this year.

The Giants' passing attack would surely get a much-needed shot in the arm, should Cruz be able to return soon. Preston Parker is currently functioning as the team's third receiver, and he has a spectacularly terrible -2.76 Target NEP on six chances through the first week of the season. This is a situation to monitor, but Cruz isn't close to a return yet.
