Lions' Golden Tate likely to be shadowed by Patrick Peterson in Week 1

Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate will likely be matched up with Arizona Cardinals star cornerback Patrick Peterson in Sunday's season debut.

What It Means:

Given Peterson's experience and athleticism, it's almost a sure thing that he'll line up opposite the crafty Tate on the majority of snaps in this week's head-to-head meeting. That should leave Marvin Jones to go at number-two corner Justin Bethel, but the Lions shouldn't expect much from Tate if the Cardinals gameplan to shut him down and force others to step up.

Our models expect Tate to be peppered with 9.2 targets in Week 1, with which we project him for 5.8 catches, 64.7 yards and 0.33 touchdowns on those looks. Those numbers amount to 11.4 FanDuel points for a cost of $6,900 on the regular season's opening Sunday slate.
