Matt Cassel survives initial wave of Bills' cuts
Quarterback Matt Cassel has survived the initial wave Buffalo Bills' cuts as their roster is trimmed to 58, according to Tyler Dunne of The Buffalo News.
Quarterback Matt Simms was among those in the cut announced Friday afternoon. It has been speculated earlier in the week that Cassel was very much on the roster bubble after Tyrod Taylor was named the Week 1 starter.
Cassel completed 13 of 15 passes for 83 yards (5.5 yards per attempt) with no touchdowns and no interceptions during the preseason. He finished 2014 ranked 42nd in Passing Net Expected Points per play among the 48 quarterbacks who logged at least 75 dropbacks.
