Kansas City's Travis Kelce avoids serious injury
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce suffered only a sprained ankle at Monday's practice, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The ankle sprain was initially reported as a left leg injury, which sounded worse than what it ended up being. Kelce should be fine for the start of the season.
Kelce converted 87 targets into a 0.83 Reception Net Expected Points (NEP) per target last year. That would have ranked 12th among 58 receivers who received at least 80 targets if Kelce were a wideout. Our projections currently see Kelce hauling in 77 receptions for 884 yards and 6 touchdowns this season. The Chiefs finished 2014 ranked 17th in our schedule-adjusted Passing NEP per play.
